Re: Quiz #1 Question #1

Hi, I was partially confused on this problem, but what you did seems right. So I have a quick question, if you don't mind explaining your work. Why did you subtract the energy you got at 285nm? Is it the change in energy= initial energy - final energy concept? I remember my TA writing that on my qui...

Re: Assuming X is small

I was also wondering about when we can consider x negligible. So just to clarify, it doesn't matter if it's a strong/weak acid or base, as long as the Ka or Kb is less than 10^-4?

For instance, I was working on problems and one answer ended in -chromium while another compound also containing chromium ended in -chro...

Converting Partial Pressure to Concentration

Do we have to know how to convert partial pressure to concentration? And if we do, do you think the question will give us partial pressure and then we just need to find the concentration of whatever it is, or will it sound different? I'm worried about getting confused over the wording... Also, just ...

I'm seriously confused with problem 4.27 part b. Myabe my Lewis structure isn't correct, but I don't see how the dipole moments cancel each other... am I supposed to look at the molecule as a whole?

Hw 4

This seems kind of dumb, but can someone explain what the angular shape is? I see it in the book but it isn't very well explained and I don't remember Lavelle going over it in lecture. An example is #5
