Re: Saying Thank You to Dr. Lavelle

Dr. Lavelle, Thank you for having such great energy (see what I did there?) during your lectures! Your passion and excitement for chemistry radiates through your lectures. Although, I was intimidated by Chemistry at the college level, your class format allowed me to grow as a student and less afraid...

The thing that killed Nicki Minaj...

*This meme regards the current rap battle between two female rappers: Remy Ma and Nicki Minaj. Remy named the dis-track "Shether," which is inspired by rapper Nas' dis-track to Jay Z.*

Half arrows

How do you know when to use the half arrows when representing a nucleophilic attack? In the Chapter four practice problems, for the halogens being broken off a Carbon bond (4.24), we've been using the full arrows, why is that?

Why is it that to find the final concentration of A (to later find k), we must subtract the initial concentration of A to 2 times the final concentration of B?

Relation between enthalpy and internal energy

Why are enthalpy and change of internal equal to one another when no gas is generated or consume in a reaction or system? With no expansion work are the volume and pressure both constant?
