Re: Units of x when calculating pH
Any concentration is in units of molarity, which is moles per liter. I hope this helps.

Re: Bruincast
Does anyone know if there is any easy way to get the bruincasts in a program/format that can fastforward the lectures on command? I prefer to watch things at a 1.5x speed, I find that it keeps me a lot more engaged, and I'm sure that more than a few other students feel the same way. The bruincasts a...

Re: How to increase the intensity of the photon
Is there a limit to the intensity of light? As in a threshold of photon density that cannot physically be surpassed? Not exactly relevant to chem 14a but I've been pretty curious about this one for a while now.

Re: Writing Formulas
Does anyone have any memory tricks or mnemonic devices to memorize some of the more common molecules such as nitrate and nitrite, or is it all just memorization through repetition and practice? I remember learning these in high school, but for me as well as for many others, it's been a few years sin...

Re: Addition and subtraction of significant figures with scientific notation?
I've heard a lot of students in other classes saying that sig figs and which decimal place to round to depends on the professor or the TA in question. Is there a universal guideline, like the MLA citation format or the SI unit system but for sig figs? I've just heard so many different variations on ...

Re: Memorization Tricks
The mnemonic device that has always stuck with me is Kittens Hate Dogs But Do Chase Mice. Learned it in middle school, and for some reason have never forgotten it.

Specifying state of molecule
Why do we need to specify the state (gas, liquid, solid, aqueous) when we balance equations? Does it ever effect the molecular coefficients?
