Yesterday in the chem review session Dmitri mentioned D.o.F. and rotations of the molecules to determine the gas constant. I don't remember covering this. Can anyone explain this?

Re: Saying Thank You to Dr. Lavelle
I am very grateful for all of the resources you have provided us Dr. Lavelle. It shows how much you truly want your students to succeed. I can only pray that I may one day have another teacher as dedicated to his students' success as you are. You make chemistry fun an interesting, and your own love ...

Intensive Property
Can anyone explain why voltage is an intensive property? I understand that water density is intensive and loosely understand what it means to be intensive, but I don't understand why voltage is.

Two forms of M.O. Diagrams
Can someone explain to me why the diagrams change if z<8? I understand that it has to do with the lower energies of atoms with z<8, but why does that affect the diagram?

Electron Configuration
Can anyone help? In Lavelle's course reader p. 66 it says that the 4S is before the 3d orbital, but then a few lines down says "After 4s State/Orbital occupied and e- enter 3d state, then 3d state is lower in energy than 4s. Can someone clarify this? Do we write 4s first or 3d?

Kinetic Energy
What role does kinetic energy play in the photoelectric effect? I know that you use the Kinetic (excess) energy as a part of an equation to find the energy of a photon or the threshold energy, but in the real life experiment, what is the purpose of the excess kinetic energy? What does it do or tell ...
