Homework Problem 12.81

For homework problem 12.81 why can you pretend like the Ka2 doesn't exist? The Solutions manual says it's because ka2<<ka1, but can someone help me understand why that means you can pretend like it doesn't happen and just solve for x with the data for ka1?

For the quiz should we know the names for the ligands that are bolded on the course reader or the names under "New IUPAC Convention"? Or both?

I also have a question related to this. For the example we did in class on page 63 the answer is that the electron is in the 2px state. I understand why the electron is in the p state, but why is it in the "2" p state and how do we determine if it's in the x, y or z state?
