### Numbering

When it comes to numbering alkanes, does it matter where you start? Like in question 5C on quiz 3, where it was a cyclobutane with ethyl and methyl substituents, what would be the 1 and what would be the 3?

### Work Equations

Hi. I'm kind of confused between ln and log in work equations. When do you know to use w = -nRT ln (vfinal / vinitial) and when to use w = -2.303nRT log (vfinal/ vinitial)? For example, in the book page 310, 8.27. The question says to calculate work for a gas sample with T = 305 K, P= 1.79 atm, and ...

### Calculating Heat[ENDORSED]

For question 8.41 in the text book, q1 = mCΔT, but for q2 it was mCΔT + nΔHf. Just wondering what the "nΔHf" added to it is for, and why it was needed for this problem as opposed to others.

For calculating bond enthalpies, is it always required to draw the lewis dot structure, or is there a more efficient way to solve these problems? Thanks!

### Extensive Property vs. Intensive Property

Hey guys, I'm a little confused on how heat capacity is considered an extensive property and how dividing it by an amount makes in an intensive property. Also, why is one more useful than the other? Thanks in advanced!
