Alcohol 2-methyl-2-butanol [ENDORSED]

I understand that a tertiary alcohol means the functional group -OH is attached to a tertiary carbon atom, however I am confused why 2-methyl-2-butanol is classified as a tertiary alcohol. Doesn't "2-butanol" indicate that the functional group is attached to the secondary carbon atom?
