Re: Cycloalkanes as subsituents

I do think the prefix cyclo is added when alphabetizing.

Re: First-order reactions

No I'm pretty sure there can be more than one reactant. First order just means that if we increase a reactant, the product will increase by that amount as well. Usually though, we look at one reactant at a time.

Re: Is E a path function or state function?

I think the internal energy U is a state function so it does not depend on the path but I think E is a path function.

Re: Balancing reactions

E is an intensive property so the amount does not matter.

Re: Practice Quiz Answers

I was hoping to find one too especially because I don't know if there is a typo in #5 regarding the coefficient in front of the NH3?

Re: Stuck on Question 8.67 [ENDORSED]

Yes, that is what I did but then I also had to subtract by the heat of vaporization of H2O because it is asking for the liquid state. So once you do the [bonds broken] - [bonds formed] you get -242 kj/mol, and then you subtract this by 40.7 to get -282.7 kj/mol

Re: Most Helpful Resource

I too did not have 14A with Lavelle and was wondering how useful you all think it is to read from the book? I am trying that right now and am not retaining that much information.
