No I'm pretty sure there can be more than one reactant. First order just means that if we increase a reactant, the product will increase by that amount as well. Usually though, we look at one reactant at a time.

I think the internal energy U is a state function so it does not depend on the path but I think E is a path function.

E is an intensive property so the amount does not matter.

Yes, that is what I did but then I also had to subtract by the heat of vaporization of H2O because it is asking for the liquid state. So once you do the [bonds broken] - [bonds formed] you get -242 kj/mol, and then you subtract this by 40.7 to get -282.7 kj/mol

I too did not have 14A with Lavelle and was wondering how useful you all think it is to read from the book? I am trying that right now and am not retaining that much information.
