What are the bond angles for a ethane and butane when they are both in staggered or in eclipsed conformation?

Re: Naming Cis or Trans

On the double bond, if the two groups are on the same side of the bond then it is a cis isomer and if the two groups are not in the same side of the bond then it is a trans isomer.

Re: Naming Structures

We do write each substituent in alphabetical order first and then do the number order when naming the structures.

Re: AlCl3 as an electrophile

What you can do is first draw out the lewis dot structure of AlCl3. As you can see the molecule is neutral and has no lone pairs which makes it not a nucleophile. Also is missing 2 atoms in the aluminum to make a stable octlet which makes it try to gain electrons in order to become stable.

Re: ∆G = -nFE

N stands for the number of moles given(transferred in a reaction). N would usually be given to you, I believe.

Re: Gibbs free energy dependence on enthalpy and entropy

So when G is minimum why can't the system no longer change?

Re: Delta U

Gas expands when delta U is equal to zero because of the increase of entropy. The increase of entropy happens due to a spontaneous reaction between the gas atoms.

Could you elaborate more on why heating causes it to go on a faster rate?
