Is there a reason why number six's answer has three significant figures despite the given concentration 0.35M having two significant figures? Do we not bother with sig figs when ln is involved? Number 6's answer is 0.30M, that's 2 sig figs. And there is no ln involved

The entropy of the system decreases while the entropy of the surroundings increases. This is because we had 2 reactants compared to 1 product, and thus the entropy of the reactants is higher than that of the product.

And this equation works because isothermal means that the temperature stays constant, thus we don't need an initial and final temperatures, the initial temp will do.

the H3- is electron-donating relative to hydrogen and it donates electrons to the carboxyl group which makes it more negative. This causes the acid to be weaker, because the proton now has to be separated from a more negative conjugate base. likewise, CH3CH2- is more electron-donating than CH3-, and...

A mistake that i saw a lot of people make with this problem was that they drew the lewis structure in the most stable form(which we are always told to do) which would result in more than an octet for the central atom. But the question specifically asks us to use the octet rule, meaning no atom can h...

Dear Elle,
I'm a bit unclear about this as well. i believe that it does not matter where it is removed from because once it is removed and the lone pair is put, the other atoms will move and arrange in a way where they are as stable and far away from each other as possible.

Hello Matt, I was wondering about that as well. For instance i know that as we move down the periodic table the radius increases due to the addition of electron shells, but the charge of the nucleus is also greater meaning it pulls the electrons in with a greater force. The trends are great for gene...
