I believe as long as you use the right script, whether the 6 was a coefficient or a subscript, in the right position you would be referring to the same thing.

Electron configurations blocks go from s, p, d, and then f. The 3d state is always lower in energy than 4s, but what gets filled first is the 4s state, hence why it is written first before the 3d state. I believe both would be equally valid, wouldn't it? By writing the Noble Gas configuration, however, I think already implies that you know what the "expanded" configuration would be, so since scientists are notoriously lazy, I think the Noble Gas configuration should be sufficient.
