Will we be given the strain/relative energies in order to calculate the ratio of the conformations? Because I don't think we ever explicitly went over how to find that...just how to find the ratio?

Re: Quiz 3 [ENDORSED]

So does that mean that all of chapter 1 will be on the test then? I'm asking because attached shows what Lavelle's email said which sounds like all of chapter 1 will not be included. I'm simply asking if I should know how to do all problems listed for chapter 1 in the course reader (1-6, 9-17, and 2...

Where does quiz 3 cover up to in the homework questions? Someone said constitutional isomers are included which would basically mean all of chapter 1 but Dr. Lavelle said that it won't cover all of chapter 1.

I know that quiz 2 covers up to page 73 in the course reader, but where does it cover up to in the homework problems? Is it up to 15.55 because 61 starts talking about activation energy?

For the winter 2015 #8d I'm having trouble figuring out why the standard potential is 1.239? When I calculate it I get 0.124? I'm literally putting the same numbers as it says on the paper so how did 1.239 even come about?

Calculating x at equilibrium

So from the example that Dr. Lavelle did yesterday when we were calculating x the equation was: 5.55x10^-10 =x^2/0.0600- x then we made it approximately equal to x^2/0.0600 which assumes that x was zero right? Can we expect to do this on the final instead of using the quadratic equation? Or should I...

Hi,
The value 1.0 x 10^-14 is just the Kw which is the autoprotolysis constant...it's in the course reader if you have one page 149!

Remember: 1.0 x 10^-14 = [H30+][OH-]
