Negative E

How can you tell apart the anode and the cathode when Ecell turns out to be negative? This occurs in 14.31 and other questions, so is there a different way to pick the anode and cathode other than choosing them to have a positive Ecell result?

When to use Z vs. E?

How do we know when we need to include Z vs. E in a cycloalkene? In some of the posted problem sets it includes them and in some it does not.

Negative work values

What does it mean when the work done on a system is a negative value? I know that for heat it makes a reaction endothermic or exothermic depending on whether it is positive or negative, does this apply to work as well?

Could H20 be classified as a polyprotic acid or base because there is more than one H atom?

Proton donors

When the course reader refers to an acid/base as a proton donor/receiver what does that mean? Would this affect an element's atomic number?

Double and Triple Bonds

How should we know when to use a double or a triple bond in a Lewis Structure? Does it only occur when there are too many electrons?

Whole Numbers [ENDORSED]

Just to clarify, coefficients in front of compounds should be whole numbers correct? So instead of leaving 3.5CO2 we would multiply the whole equation by two to get whole numbers.

Re: Easy Way to Calculate Sigfigs

If a value has decimals that are zeroes (such as 1500.00), would that be considered having a decimal present or absent?
