Re: Transition Steps
I think you still have to use the dashed arrows in the transition step because in the transition step it still hasn't fully broken off yet

2014 Midterm Question 3
For this question we have to pick which chemicals to use for the galvanic cell and the correct answer says to pick Zn and Fe(NO3) would it be wrong we chose to do the galvanic cell with Zn and Cu(NO3)2?

Re: Quiz 3 question 7
I could be totally wrong but I think it has to do something with the pi bond being able to break apart and allow for the carbons to be attacked by the chlorines

Re: Bruincast Audio Problem
I've found that with safari sometimes bruin cast works but other times it asks for silverlight to be installed so what I've done is restarted my browser a few times and then it begins to work normally, hope that helps!

Re: Kinetically controlled reaction
If the reaction can be under kinetic control before equilibrium conditions are established does that mean the same can be said for during the time it's at equilibrium?

Re: Determing salt bridge
In the course reader it mentioned platinum being an inert conductor does this mean it's also in the salt bridge?

Re: How to determine which is an acid and which is a base?
Do we just have to memorize the strong bases in order to know that NH3 is a weak base?

Weak Bases
Why are weak bases like NH3 not completely ionized? What forces them to not completely dissociate?

Cis Vs. Trans
In lecture we discussed how cisplatin would be formed instead of its trans counterpart because in biological contexts its more useful for chemotherapy etc., but in general how would we know which ligand would form more likely in the cis shape or the trans shape?

Re: Lewis Structure
Lewis structures give a pretty good visual of the outer electrons for an atom and when there is a polyatomic ion involved it can actually give you a better understanding of how those atoms bond together.

Can someone please clarify the statement mentioned in lecture that electrons are the orbitals? I’m a bit confused because it was also mentioned electrons are in the orbitals.

Wavelengths [ENDORSED]
When solving problems for wavelength should your final answer be in nanometers or meters?
