CH3CHC(CH3)C(CH3)3 exercise 12 [ENDORSED]

Can anyone answer why CH3CHC(CH3)C(CH3)3 is not 2,2,3-trimethyl-3-pentene?
Why does the answer say it is 3,3,4-trimethyl-2-pentene?

Question about Exercise 4.25

In question 4.25, it asked us to use curved arrows to indicate electron movement in the reaction. It is a reaction between C2H4 and Br2. I don't understand why one of the Br atom is negatively charged while the other is positively charged, because I don't think there is any electronegativity differe...

Excercise 14.13 question d

Write the half-reactions, the balanced equation for the cell reaction, and the cell diagram for each of the following skeletal equations: d. Au+(aq)--- Au(s)+Au3+(aq) in this reaction, the oxidation half equation should be Au+(aq)---Au3+(aq)+2e-, but the answer on the back of the book gives Au(aq)--...

Units involved in calculating the work done [ENDORSED]

Hi guys, I always have problem converting all kinds of units so that i can get my final answer with the unit J or KJ. Is there any specific list of units or table of conversion between units that we can use? Otherwise, i'm afraid i cannot make sure what unit of work done i will get. For example, in ...

Polar and Non-polar bond

Hi

I am confused with how to decide which bonds are polar or non-polar, and how to decide which molecule is likely to be a polar or non-polar. Can anyone helps me out?

Thanks at advance.

Re: Question on Chapter 3, Question 19? [ENDORSED]

Hello, I have the same question as well. But what seems confusing me is not how the configuration of electrons of Ni2+ should look like. What I don't understand is that why there are still two unpaired electrons? In [Ar]3d8, aren't there even number of electrons? I think every two electrons should b...

Re: Kinetic Energy of Electrons [ENDORSED]

First of all, I think we have to understand that, in photoelectric effect, the light shows its particle property, which means light is composed of photons. When the light strikes the metal surface, each electron on the metal surface can only absorb one single photon. The frequency of photon can deci...
