What does TM stand for? pg 118

On the course reader (pg 118 ) it says "TM cation name"
Does it mean transition metals? For the life of me I cannot think of what it could stand for.

I thought that Molecules can only be polar if some of the chemical bonds in them are polar.

Zeff is the effective pull on electrons of interest (usually the outermost electron).
Increased number of protons will increase Zeff and the first ionization energy is a reflection of Zeff. Zeff decreases as the number of orbital layers increase due to shielding of underlying electrons.
