How to determine Galvanic Cell molecules

How would you tell which molecules would produce the highest possible voltage? For example, why is Zn(NO3)2 good for this but Cu(NO3)2 is not?

Derivations

Should we be familiar with the derivations listed in the chapter summaries or should we be familiar with all the derivations (i.e Electrochemistry derivations?)

Question about 8.21

I just have a quick question about 8.21 which is "A piece of copper of mass 20.0 g at 100.0 C is placed in a vessel of negligible heat capacity but containing 50.7 g of water at 22.0 C. Calculate the nal temperature of the water. Assume that no energy is lost to the surroundings." Why does...

Unit Question [ENDORSED]

In some of the textbook questions, I end up getting L*atm and the answer in the book is in J. What are the units that pressure and volume need to be in for the work equation?

Problem 11.67

I know someone else posted about this problem but it wasn't entirely answered. Here is the problem: The reaction 2 HCl(g) ∆ H2(g) Cl2(g) has K 3.2 10 34 at 298 K. The initial partial pressures are H2, 1.0 bar; HCl, 2.0 bar; and Cl2, 3.0 bar. At equilibrium there is 1.0 mol H2(g). What is the volume ...
