Gauche and Anti conformation
Do the Gauche and anti conformation only apply to butane, or does it also have a significance in the other cycloalkane conformations? Also, as seen on the example on page 108, does the conformation always go Gauche to anti conformation because it goes from lower to lowest energy?

What is the difference between nucleophiles and electrophiles from what we learned previously about electron transfer/sharing in ionic and covalent bonds? It seems like both deal with e- rich regions and negative and positives attracted to each other.

No, the order does not matter when they are separated by a comma. However, for the solids they are usually placed at the end of the cell diagram, and gases usually go right before the electrode, separated by a line.

Order of reactions
If the order of the reactants are both first order, but the overall order reaction is 2, what does this tell us? Do we just use the individual reactants or do we we use the overall because the rate constant is dependent on both of the reactants?

Irreversible vs reversible pathway
If we know that all real processes are irreversible, then how do we know when to use w = -nRT ln V1/V2 instead of w = -P∆V and vice versa? For calculating entropy, do we never use w = -P∆V because it has to be a reversible expansion and isothermal?

I believe we do have to use this equation to solve for problems when finding positional/residual entropy, as seen in the example on the bottom of page 29 in the course reader. I know that intensity and the number of photons are related, but is there any equation or way to numerically calculate those values? Or are the numerical values not relevant to what we're learning?
