Write out the balanced chemical equation for the formation of HBr: H2 + Br2 --> 2HBr. Because every 1 mol of H2 reacts with 1 mol of Br2, the stoichiometric amount of Br2 is equal to the moles of H2.

Since it's a ratio, if you calculate it with delta G being positive, you will get the inverse of the ratio you would end up with if you used the negative delta G. It's not necessarily wrong, but it's easier to interpret the ratio if you just use a negative delta G.

Resonance is a combination of all possible structures of a molecule, even the ones that are less stable. Therefore, include structures with formal charges not equal to zero. The most prominent structure, however, will be the one with the lowest formal charges.

On page 159 in the course reader it talks about salts as acids and bases. Certain ions display acidic or basic characteristics after dissolution. In the example you give, NH4Br dissociates into NH4+ and Br- in solution. Because NH4+ is an acid, it lowers the pH of the solution.

One other thing to note is that even if a molecule has a symmetrical structure (i.e. tetrahedral), if the atoms surrounding the central atom are not equivalent, then the molecule will be polar (i.e H2ClBr2).

There is no difference in energy in the orbitals only for Hydrogen because there are no electron-electron interactions since the atom only has one electron. Many-electron atoms, however, are not degenerate (their orbitals have different energies to due interactions between electrons).
