The answer for the body temperature problem on the final?

did we have to find the moles to find out the answer for the problem with the heat capacity?

has anyone tried 14.4.b?

the oxidation number of carbon increases from -2 to -4/3 so I get it is an oxidizing agent, and reduction half reaction.
but I am not sure how many electrons I should add to the half to reaction to equalize the number of electrons.

Re: Positional/Residual Entropy

it is just referring to the one mole of SO2F2
one mole of So2F2, of course, have number of molecules that is equal to the Avogadro's number
so W=6^Na

Re: question 9.19

final answer should be 11J/(K*mol) steps: 1) prepare calculations by converting all the Celsius degrees to Kelvin 2) raise water to 373K using heat capacity of LIQUID water and nCln(T2/T1) you should get 3.09JK^-1mol^-1 3) Let it vaporize using standard entropy of vaporization -109 J/(mol*K) 4) cool...

Re: Homework 9.23

at K=0 you can basically ignore entropy due to the thermal energy. So now it is time to see the structure- or positional disorder bf3 and cof2 both have trigonal planar there is only one positional possibility for bf3 however for cof2, you can have 3 so using the equation you may know that delta S= ...

Re: Internal Energy and State Function [ENDORSED]

delta U means an internal energy, as you may know, and is a state function. State function means that it does not depend on how the system got from the initial to the final state. However q and w is not state functions and path dependent functions. How does this work? Let's take an example of hiking...

Re: Other examples of elements which go through sublimation

I was wondering the same thing and, while looking through the forum, I found someone asked a same question about last year. The answer said Iodine crystals, water (pg 285), and chemicals in the mothballs (naphthalene) are also common substances that sublimate. I have seen and known that iodine cryst...
