Re: Silver's electron configuration

I am guessing you meant to say [Kr] 4d105s1. This is because when all the electrons in the d-shell are filled, it is more stable than having 9 and the s-shelled filled. Dr. Lavelle explained this exception during lecture.

Re: Accessing the E-textbook [ENDORSED]

Hello!

I am pretty sure there is one option that should include “e-text” in the title. The loose-leaf one will be an actually paper type book.

Re: Grades

Does anyone know if there is a way to calculate our grades ourselves? Is it point system?

Re: Textbook Readings

I actually like using the textbook reading as a kind of supplement to the lecture. I take notes on the textbook readings, but it really depends on you. Just try not to focus on the nitty gritty details and it should be fine!

Re: Electron standing wave

Standing waves are waves whose peak amplitude will not move. I think that Bozeman science also has a very good video titled “Standing Waves” that you should watch!

Re: MidTerms and Finals

I second that. I think that midterms and finals will be outside of the classroom. For all students, our midterm will be on November 6th from 6-8 PM I believe.

Re: Angstrom

I also think that most of the time, we use meters. I could be wrong, but I don’t think we will be having to use Angrstrom unless its specified.

Mole Units

Hi all!

I was wondering if we need to always write the units for moles and if moles could be used for virtually anything (ex. we could say like moles of dogs). Are there any units I would need to cancel out for moles?

Thank you!

Sig Figs for Tests/Quizzes

Hello all!

I was wondering if you guys know how the sigfigs will be graded during test and quizzes. Sometimes, when there is only 1 significant figure, I feel like my answer seems off. Do you know if partial credit would be given?

Thank you!

Help on question M9

Hello all!

For some reason, I can’t get the equation for M9 (I don't see where sodium fits into this/where it goes on the product side). Am I missing something?

Thank you!

Re: Question L.35 [ENDORSED]

Hello! Dr. Lavelle posted on his website something titled “Solution Manual Errors 7th Edition”. I would suggest that you could look over these and if there is anything that seems kind of off, you can always look at it for reference. For L.35, he posted that the book messed up and FeBr2 needs to be F...

Re: Textbook

Hello! I don’t think it’s very necessary to bring your whole textbook to lecture. If anything, I have a loose-leaf textbook as well, and I was thinking that I could take out pages that would be taught for the day (for example, if I knew that the lecture was going to mainly be on Fundamentals G, I wo...
