Re: Balmer/Lyman series

I would say yes since Lavelle routinely asked the class variations of those questions throughout lecture to check for understanding.

Re: Are we allowed to round when showing work?

That's fine but while showing your work at least make sure to show your calculated value (at the shortest) at the required sig figs. But again like everyone has said, continue using the expanded value throughout your work

Re: HW problem F9

I don't think you have or necessarily should express it as such, but if you were looking at atomic ratios (as in number of atoms per reactant or product or compound) that would be represented as subscripts.

Re: E15

I was confused with that question too. This is how I processed it. M = the metal = Calcium (because 74.10 g/mol - 34.02 g/mol = 40.08 g/mol, which is calcium's atomic mass. The questions asks "What is the molar mass of the sulfide of this metal?", so the book is no longer referencing the e...

Yes, it would be 4.70 but don't forget that 0 on the end! Also, I'm not sure if this really pertains to your question but make sure you are rounding your final answer not a number mid-calculation. :)

Re: Advice from a Medical Student - Part II [ENDORSED]

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! As a pre-med student it's always very encouraging to hear about UCLA graduates pursuing medical school and beyond. That being said, I was wondering if you had any tips regarding the application process? Also, I noticed in one of your replies you...

Order of Elements When Writing Out a Compound

So I know this may seem like a silly question, but honestly my chemistry knowledge is pretty rusty. While working on some homework problems there were multiple times where I solved for the amount (in mols) of each element (which I could do). But what I couldn't figure out was how to write the produc...
