Clarifying question- mol ratio

Postby Lexi Saket 2B » Fri Dec 08, 2023 9:46 pm

In MgSO4 7H2O are there 11 moles of oxygen per 1 mole of the molecule. So to find grams of oxygen you would use the ratio 11mol/1mol?

Yeah, you would use the ratio 11 mol/1 mol of the whole compound. If you know the moles of MgSO4 * 7H2O, you can multiply that by 11 to find the moles of oxygen and then convert to grams using the molar mass of oxygen.
