In medicine it is sometimes necessary to prepare solutions with a specific concentration of a given ion. A lab technician has made up 100.0 ml of a solution containing 0.50 g of NaCl and 0.30 g of KCL, as well as glucose and other sugars. What is the concentration of chloride ions in the solution?

To solve this question, you would first convert the grams values to moles of NaCl and KCl, respectively, and then using these numbers you would calculate the number of moles of Cl- that are produced by the dissolving of each compound. You would then add these values to get the total number of moles of Cl- in the solution and divide by .1000L to get the concentration of Cl- ions in the solution.
