Dilution Equation
If we are presented with M1, V1 (in mL), and M2 of a dilution equation and are looking for V2 of the equation, is it required that we convert the volumes to Liters before solving?

Re: Dilution Equation
If you are only finding the volume after being given volume and the two other molarities, it is not necessary to convert to Liters before solving.

Re: Dilution Equation
Make sure you keep your units constant though. In this case, your answer would be in mL too.

Re: Dilution Equation
It depends on what the question is asking. For example, if the question is asking for V2 in mL, then it keep V1 in mL. Likewise, if the question is looking for V2 in L, then convert V1 to L. Be sure to stay consistent with your units as you're solving.

Re: Dilution Equation
It just depends on the question and the units given. If V2/V1 was given in mL, and you were to find the other volume using the dilution equation, you would to have your final answer be in mL as well.
