Mol VS Mole

Postby Matlynn Giles 2E » Mon Oct 05, 2020 10:46 am

I am sure this is a very basic questions... but are Mol and Mole the same thing? After watching the lecture I just want to make sure my notes are accurate.

Yes they are the same thing! mol is just a shortened way of writing mole.

Yes, mol is just an abbreviation for a mole!

Hello,

Yes Mole and mol are the same thing. Mol can be shorthand for Mole.

Hope this helped!

They're the same thing! Mol is just an abbreviation of mole.

Another thing to note is that M does not stand for mole. M is used for molarity and stands for mol/L.

Adding to this, they sometimes use "c" for molarity as well(like they did in the textbook), and it stands for concentration which is what molarity essential is. To be honest, though, I sometimes get confused because I think they're talking about the speed of light.

Yes and to add to this. moles/number of moles is represented by n in equations.

Yes, they are both the same. Be careful not to confuse them as a shortened version of molecule, especially when doing conversions.

Mole and mol are indeed the same exact thing. mol is just the way most people write the word out during chemical equations and problems.

The terms "mol" and "mole" represent the same thing. People tend to write mol as an abbreviation.

Yes they're the same thing. Mol is just a shorter way of saying mole. I don't know why it's that hard to add the "e" but I guess it is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yep! For example, when it says "mol H" it means the same thing as "mole(s) of hydrogen" :)

Yup, mol is just a shorthand for mole! Unfortunately mol almost looks like an abbreviation for molecule (which I've seen abbreviated as mlcl before).

Yeah, they're the same exact thing. Mol for Mole is basically the same exact thing as L for Liters

n stands for moles of solute in the molarity equation M=n/v

yes they are the same thing! which is a little funny considering that it is only 1 letter shorter and is still an abbreviation.
