Room temperature

Postby Parsia Vazirnia 2L » Thu Mar 16, 2017 9:02 pm

Under what conditions will reactions likely occur at room temperature? When the gibbs free energy is smaller? Why?

If the Gibb's free energy is negative, then the reaction will be spontaneous, and it will likely occur at room temperature.
You can also assess the deltaS and deltaH values to see if the reaction will take place at low, high, or all temperatures (see page 37 in the course reader).
