PLEASE HELP intermediates

Postby Dahriel Aron 3A » Wed Mar 02, 2016 8:56 pm

Is there always only 1 intermediate in electrophilic addition when there are 2 transition states? I thought that there were 2 in the example of Br2 attaching to a large molecule with a double bond since one would be the Br attached to the large molecule with a carbo cation and one would be the second Br alone, however looking at the reaction profile it looks like there would only be 1 intermediate since theres only one dip with 2 transition states

The reaction profile only shows you the organic compound. You are right that there are 2 INTERMEDIATE SPECIES because Br- is count as an intermediate species as well.
