Intermediates

Postby 304572560 » Sun Mar 06, 2016 2:26 pm

When discussing the amount of intermediates in an electrophilic addition reaction, are we supposed to give the amount of valleys on the graph as the number of intermediates or the actual number of intermediate molecules and elements that exist in the mechanism?

To my understanding, the number of intermediates refers to the actual number of intermediate molecules that are produced by the end of the first transition state. The amount of valleys only indicates the period where intermediates have been created.
