Cholesterol example on page 84 of CR

The image of cholesterol on page 84 of the CR shows that most of the carbons in the molecule only have two or three bonds as opposed to four. Why is that?

I believe that all of the carbons in the example have four bonds; the extra hydrogens just aren't shown on the molecule. It's very rare that C will only have two or three bonds.

The hydrogens are omitted because the line diagram would be too complex with them. They are shown in some places because those are the regions we are inspecting.
