4.26 Electron Movement

Complete the reaction mechanism.(Given an HI and CH2CH2 structure)

Is there any way to tell how many steps it takes to complete a reaction mechanism? In this instance, one of the double bonds goes to the Hydrogen in HI and the single bond on HI goes to Iodine. From there, how do I determine what to do next?

After the first step, re evaluate the alkene. You should have a positive charge on one of the carbons. The Iodine will then add onto the positive charge carbon to complete the reaction.
