Butane - Gauche formation
For the Butane conformation, why's θ=120 degree has a higher energy than θ=60 degree? θ=120 degree is further than θ=60 degree, so shouldn't this be weaker in energy?

The energy is determined by how far the neighboring atoms are spaced out, not how big the angles are.
