Newman Projection
How do you number the carbons in a newman projection? I know that the big circle in the back is the second carbon and the point in the middle of the Y is the first carbon? Where is the third and fourth carbon located?

Re: Newman Projection
All the Newman Projections we have done thus far have been a between TWO carbon atoms. The other carbon atoms are considered if they are bonded to the carbon atoms we are examining. They are drawn on the outside of the circle, whereas the carbon atoms being specifically analyzed are in the center of the circle.

Re: Newman Projection
The question will specify which 2 carbon atoms to draw in the Newman projection and then you draw the remaining chain depending what carbon it is bonded to. It is helpful to draw out the molecule before doing the Newman projection.
