Torsional Strain

Postby StevenBieneman_3K » Sun Mar 19, 2017 1:19 pm

Does torsional strain always occur when there are single bonds involved?

Torsional strain is a result of eclisped hydrogens. If you observe the chair conformation on cyclohexanes, they have only single bonds but have no torsional strain due to the staggered hydrogens.
