Chair conformation

If for example we were asked to draw the most stable conformation for cyclohexane, would it matter which chair conformation we drew? I know that with substituents there is a difference, but without substituents both are equally stable right?

You are correct in that if all substituents were the same it would not matter which chair orientation you drew because both have energies of 0 kJ/mol. Hope that helped!

Also, don't forget that if there are no substituents, it doesn't matter if the chair is facing either the left or the right. Structurally, they are just the same, though one may look like a mirror image of the other.
