Rate Order and DeltaG

Postby StephanieMartis1F » Wed Mar 09, 2016 3:02 pm

With the deltaG equation, will the rate law always be given? In the course reader it is given that the gauche butane to antibutane is zero. When dealing with a dletaG problem with conformations, are all equations zero order?

I'm not certain, but I belive that the zero refers to the energy value for the energy conformation and because Anti has the lowest energy conformation it's zero. In order to calculate the Keq of 2 conformations, I believe we will need to be given their corresponding energy values for the conformation like the example on page 111 of the couse reader.
