### How can we write the molecular formulas of some organic chemicals?

Without knowing the structures of the organic chemicals, how can we write the molecular formulas correctly? For example, for problem F15, how can I know the formula should be C16H13ClN2O instead of C16H13N2ClO?

We would accept both as they have the same numbers of each atom type.

Additionally, the order that the respective elements are given in a molecular formula gives insight on the specific formation that the atoms are placed in.

Hi Paul, could you talk a little bit more about what you mean by "the specific formation that the atoms are placed in"? I thought the order of elements in the formulas is usually subject to customs and indicates the structures of the chemicals.
