Writing Out Chemical Equation

Postby Melissa Villanueva1K » Thu Oct 04, 2018 10:33 pm

How do you know which element goes first when writing out a chemical equation for a compound? For example a chemical equation that has silicone dioxide.

When writing out chemical compounds, the element with the positive charge always goes first. Hope this helps!

Generally you would follow the hill system. In the case you asked the Silicon goes first followed by the oxygen atoms (o atoms tend to be last).
