**Sat Oct 06, 2018 7:35 pm**Definition: it is an educated guess or approximation as to how many elements are within a chemical compound

Steps:

1. If you are given a percentage, make sure to change the percentage into grams.

2. When you find out the grams, convert the grams into moles.

3. After determining the moles of each compound, divide each number by the smallest number of moles.

4. If necessary, multiply to get a whole number.

-if the number ends in (0.5) multiply by 2, (0.33 or 0.66) multiply by 3, and if it ends in (0.25 or 0.75) multiply by 4
