Quiz Preparation Fall 2013 #1

Why is oxygen not counted in the answer, as oxygen is also produced. Shouldn't the answer be C03H2 instead of just CH2?

I thought that at first too! But in the question it says it is a "hydrocarbon," which means that it only consists of hydrogen and carbon.
