### Homework Problem F1

Hello,
I am confused as to why we must multiply the molar mass of each element by 100/ the molar mass of the entire compound. Why must it be 100 and what does that signify? Thank you

EDIT: I understand now nevermind

At the very end, you multiply your anger by 100% to get the mass percentage composition. When you get all of your percentages, make sure to add up all of the percentages to make sure they add up to 100!

the way it is written in the solutions manual is a bit confusing. What is really happening is that they are dividing the mass of the element by the total molar mass of the compound to get the fraction/decimal of that element. They then multiply by 100% to convert that decimal into a percentage.
