Molar Mass, Moles, and grams

Can someone please give me a basic definition of each and how they relate to one another (i.e. conversion methods and such between them)??

Molar mass = g/mol of a substance

mole = 6.022 x 10^23 atoms or molecules of given element/substance

grams = used to measure amount of substance in a reaction, chem scenario, etc

mol x g/mol = g
g / g/mol = mol
g / mol = g/mol (molar mass)

The molar mass (M) equates to the mass of a substance in grams (m) divided by the number of moles of a substance (n). As such, the notation for the unit of measure for molar mass is g/mol or g.mol^-1. This equation can be used interchangeably between questions that ask for any of the previously mentioned variables. When solving chemistry problems related to mass (n), it is a general rule of thumb to convert to the base unit of grams (e.g. kilograms > grams).

The mole refers to the standard unit of measure for quantifying extremely small matter such as atoms, ions, molecules, etc. One mole equates to Avogadro's number (6.022 x 10^23), which in short, puts large quantities such as the number of atoms in a solution, into a manageable perspective. This concept is not only limited to the measurement of individual elements but can also be applied to compounds.

Use molar mass to convert grams to mole and vice verse. In order to go from moles to atoms (or any number of things), use the Avocado's number 6.022*10^23.

Molar mass is the mass of the substance divided by the amount of moles of the substance. The molar mass is the mass of one mole of the substance. One mole is 6.02x10^23 (Avogadro's number) of the atom, molecule, or entity you are using in the particular problem. Grams is a measure of the mass of a substance.
Molar mass (g.mol^-1) = grams of substance (g) / moles of substance (mol)

Molar Mass is the mass (in g) per mole of a substance. The units for molar mass is g/mol. The molar mass of atoms can be found under the element name on the periodic table. The molar mass of a molecule is the sum of the molar masses of that atoms in the molecule, taking into account the number of each atom. For example, the molar mass of H is 1.01 g/mol and the molar mass of O is 16.00 g/mol, so the molar mass of H2O is 18.02 because 2(1.01) + 16.00 = 18.02

A mole (mol) is a unit of measurments equal to 6.022 x 10^23 parts. This value is commonly used in chemistry as a unit for atoms/molecules.

A gram (g) is a unit of measurement usually associated with mass.

To convert between these values, you can use the relationship molar mass = grams/moles

A mol is 6.022 x 10^23 (a value based on the number of atoms in a 12g sample of Carbon-12).

A gram is a value of measurement, specifically of weight. It measures the amount of a substance that is present. (There are also kilograms and milligrams, which are also measurements based on grams, but by different degrees of 10.)

Molar Mass is the number of grams in 1 mol of a substance (g/mol). You can find this value by adding the molecular weights of each atom present in a compound. This works because the molecular weight of each atom is how many grams a mol of that element would weigh, so adding them together would give you the number of grams in a mol of the compound. For example, the molar mass of H20 is 18.01 g/mol because the molecular weight of H is 1.001 g and the molecular weight of O is 15.99. 2(1.008) + 1(15.99)= 18.006, which when rounded for sig figs is 18.01 g/mol.

Using Molar Mass to find grams: mols * g/mol = g
Using Molar Mass to find mols: g / g/mol =mol

I hope this makes sense but the molar mass is the mass, in grams, of a mole of a substance.
