Do we need to know how to name molecular formulas for the mid-term?
There’s questions on the textbook problems where it asks you to name the formula. Are we going to need to know how to do this for the midterm? I don’t think Lavelle ever talked about this in lecture.

Re: Do we need to know how to name molecular formulas for the mid-term?
Today in my discussion this question came up as well. While we are not directly being tested on Nomenclature, it is recommended that we are familiar with general naming rules such as polyatomic ions, hydrates, and basic acids. Its better to know them just in case they do show up.

Hi Sophie, I think Dr. Lavelle mentioned he will provide us with the chemical formulas. However, I do suggest memorizing basic concepts such as combustion is when something reacts with oxygen to have a product of carbon dioxide and water. Hope this helped!
