Black Body

I don't understand what black body means - can someone explain?

From my understanding, a black body is an idealized object that absorbs all incident radiation (energy) under any and all circumstances. No true black body exists because no object can truly absorb all energy that it is exposed to, but there are still formulas to calculate black body radiation. Hope this helps!

Also, they can be distinguished from atoms and molecules because they do not absorb or emit unique frequencies that are all allowed by unique electronic structures since it is a hypothetical materials.
