Plugging into the Schrodinger Equation

Just to clairfy, for the midterm we are not expected to be able to plug values into the Schrodinger Equation to therefore find the quantum numbers like n and l. Or are we? If we are what does d represent in the equation? Thanks

We just have to know that the function gives rise to the shape of orbitals and what the different quantum numbers represent, not the actual math and calculations behind the function itself.
