## Using the Equation

$H_{\psi }=E_{\psi }$

1-D: $E_{TOTAL}\psi (x)=E_{k}\psi (x)+V(x)\psi(x)=-\frac{h^{2}}{8\pi ^{2}m}\frac{d^{2}\psi(x)}{dx^{2}}+V(x)\psi(x)$

### Using the Equation

What are we meant to use Shrodinger's equation for exactly? To find orbitals?

### Re: Using the Equation

The equation gives us the probability of finding an electron at a certain location/position, at an orbital or a cloud. I heard we won't be needing to know how to use the formula, just to understand its purpose.

### Re: Using the Equation

The Schrodinger's Wave Question is meant to describe where electrons are in an atom and basically the physical changes of the quantum state of an atom that occurs over time. It's just important to know that Ψ represent the height of the wave at position x,y,z and Ψ^2 is the probability of finding an electron.
