I believe Professor Lavelle said that we just need to understand what it is, and problems where you would have to solve a Schrodinger Equation are too complicated for this course.

You would use the Schrödinger equation to find the allowed energy levels for quantum mechanical systems.

You use the Schrodinger equation to find the allowed energy levels of quantum mechanical systems, like atoms. The wavefunction gives the probability of finding the particle at a certain position x. However, I do not think we are required to know exactly how it works for an exam/test
