Threshold Energy

Postby Tatiana 4B » Sat Oct 27, 2018 7:26 pm

Is threshold energy taken into account in the Schrodinger Equation?

Schrodingers equation defines wave functions. Threshold energy has to do with the photoelectric effect as the minimum energy to remove an electron from a metal.

Schrodinger's equation doesn't have anything to do with the photoelectric effect. Therefore, threshold energy would not be used.

understand the concepts but equation wise it does not relate to Schrodingers equation

The Psi here means the probability to find an electron in a certain space while the Psi in the photo electric effect means threshold energy.
