We may not have to do any calculations using the equation, but my TA said we should understand Schrodiner's equation conceptually.

I don't think we will actually have to use this equation. But on the midterm, he did ask a couple of conceptual questions so maybe just know what the equation is used for.

I remember Dr. Lavelle saying during one of the lectures that we won't need to use the equation for any calculations, but it's probably good to know what it is used for and its conceptual basis just in case.

My TA said that we should know the concept behind the equation, but that we won't be asked to solve anything with it.

Schrodinger's equation describes the wave function. Solving the equation give you the position and momentum of the wave.
